Membership in the Tennessee Society Daughters of the Revolution of 1776 is more than documenting a lineage. It is an opportunity to honor the men and women whose courage helped secure American independence, preserve the stories entrusted to us, build friendships with women who share that heritage, and help shape the future of a growing Society.

Who Can Join?
Membership in the Tennessee Society Daughters of the Revolution of 1776 is open to women of good character who are lineal descendants by blood of an ancestor who faithfully served the cause of American Independence during the Revolutionary War. For purposes of our Constitution, the term “woman” means one who is, and has been, biologically female from birth.
Your Patriot’s Service
Your Patriot ancestor did not have to serve as a soldier. Qualifying service may include:
• Military, naval, or marine service under the authority of the thirteen Colonies or States or the Continental Congress
• Signing the Declaration of Independence
• Service as a member of the Continental Congress
• Service in the legislative body of a Colony or State
• Civil service by appointment or under the authority of a qualifying legislative body
• Other recognized patriotic, civil, military, or naval service or faithful aid and support to the cause of American Independence
In all cases, the Patriot ancestor must have remained loyal to the cause and authority of the American Colonies or States.

Each application is independently reviewed to ensure that the applicant, documented lineage, and Patriot’s qualifying service meet the membership requirements of the Tennessee Society Daughters of the Revolution of 1776.
